Karen Eberly obtained her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado, Denver with an emphasis in couples and family therapy. Karen is currently licensed in the state of Colorado and has been practicing since 2009. Sessions, LLC is an approved provider of Functional Family Therapy (FFT), an evidenced based program for families of teens with externalizing behaviors such as truancy, drug use, legal involvement, and relational concerns/issues.
Karen began her career working in the community mental health setting for over 5 years. While in this setting, Karen had the opportunity to work with people dealing with a variety of struggles including anxiety, trauma, depression, stress management, parenting, relationship/communication struggles, ADHD, etc. The primary focus of Karen’s work has been family therapy and anxiety/depression. Karen is formally trained in two evidence based programs, Functional Family Therapy (FFT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Karen’s therapeutic approach and style is both direct and client centered as she values teaching her clients tangible coping skills while while concurrently meeting her clients where they are at in their journey towards personal goals.
