New! Live a Joyful Life: Nature-Based Therapy Group for Women – Starts September 12, 2015.
We all yearn to live lives of meaning, connection, and joy. But so much can get in the way of this goal. From an early age, we learn that something is wrong with us: we’re too big or too skinny, too smarth or not smart enough, too dark-skinned or too LGTBQ, too emotional or too female. Is it any surprise, then, that so many of us suffer from depression, anxiety, ruthless self-criticism, disempowerment, trauma?
These challenges are interrelated. As we develop strategies to survive in an unhealthy world, we lose connection with our true nature. In this 8-week therapy group, you’ll partner with nature, the world’s most powerful therapist, to work through obstacles and rediscover who you truly are.
Who: This group is for women of all backgrounds, races, sexual orientations and gender expressions, who notice they feel good when they spend time in nature, and want to work through obstacles in order to live purposeful, meaningful, joyful, lives. Participants should be comfortable with light walking on and off-trail.
What: An 8-week nature-based therapy group. Where: Weather permitting, most of our time will be spent outdoors in the foothills of Boulder. Location will be provided upon registration.
Where: Weather permitting, most of our time will be spent outdoors in the foothills of Boulder. Location will be provided upon registration.

The Worry Workshop
WTF Are You Worried About?
What are the top two things you worry about?
Do you find yourself worrying about insignificant things on a consistant basis?
Do you experience worry and anxiety more than you’d like to?
Would you like to learn some simple tools to deal with worry and anxiety with more ease?
Not too long ago, I found myself on vacation in Maui. Now, there’s a reason people refer to Hawaii as paradise. Indeed, those who have been there know that the ocean breezes, sandy beaches, lush vegetation and water falls are among the most beautiful in the world. As I sat by the pool immersed in this tropical paradise, I suddenly felt my mind wander to my growing to-do list when I got home. I started worrying about bills that had to be paid, colleagues with whom I had to have conversations, and even housework that needed to be completed upon my return. Indeed, I discovered that although I was surrounded in a worry-free environment, my mind insisted on worrying! Before long, it felt like I was not in paradise at all. My mind had teleported itself to Colorado with no way to take care of the things worried about!
Worry and anxiety occur at varying levels of intensity for different people. In fact, during this year alone:
40 million Americans will experience a disruption in daily functioning because of an experience with anxiety.
Anti-Anxiety drugs ranked in the top ten most commonly prescribed prescriptions in the United States.
4 million Americans will seek treatment for worry and anxiety.
As a professional counselor and life coach, I know worry and anxiety. I know the the two o’clock in the morning cold sweats, the knots in the stomach, and the wringing hands. Worry can be extremely disruptive and counter-productive.
One thing I’ve learned about managing worry and anxiety:
It’s about managing your mind.
How Much More Could You Enjoy Life If You Worried Less?
Are you ready to:
Gain some simple, practical tools for managing worry and anxiety?
Learn how one simple tool can help you manage worry in a heartbeat?
Put worry aside and become more productive and efficient?
Experience peace of mind that you didn’t know was available?
Let go of your worry and have more FUN?
If you’re ready to move forward beyond the limits of worry, click the Register Now button below.
These Techniques Work
Over the past few years, I have worked with several clients who have experienced worry and anxiety. One client came to me unable to maintain intimate relationships, advance in her career, or even get a good night’s rest. She worried not only about her own finances, but the finances of those around her as well. Although she received glowing feedback at work from her superiors, she lived in constant fear of being laid off or terminated. She resisted dating out of worry of being rejected and had all but surrendered to her worry. After learning and using tools for managing worry and anxiety, within a few short months she received a promotion at work which increased her salary, began dating without fear of rejection, and reported being able to sleep with ease.
During this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn tools to help manage worry, stress and anxiety. And, it may be easier than you think.

Before and After Baby: A forum for new mothers and mothers-to-be
January 19th, 11am-12:30pm
Eating Disorder Foundation
1901 E. 20th Ave, Denver, CO 80205
Motherhood brings with it a mix of emotions; from joy to fear, love to overwhelm,
excitement to anxiety, motherhood can leave us feeling energized and depleted all at
once. Not only our we responsible for nourishing ourselves, but our children, as well.
According to studies, approximately 12% of women who have recently given birth
have either had or have an eating disorder. Disordered eating can lead to a number of
complications with fertility, pregnancy, and delivery and infancy.
Up to 30% of new mothers with a history of an eating disorder may develop postpartum
depression after delivery, which can also increase the risk for relapse.
In this forum, we will discuss the challenges of fertility, pregnancy, and motherhood
after battling an eating disorder and provide a space for you to express your fears and
challenges and find support.

Bellies, Babies & Bliss: Exploring and embracing your body during pregnancy and beyond
December 13th, 7pm-8:30
Belly Bliss, 300 Josephine St. Denver, CO
Motherhood brings with it a mix of emotions; from joy to fear, love to overwhelm,
excitement to anxiety, motherhood can leave us feeling energized and depleted all at
once.
While there are many things freely discussed whether you are an expectant mom or a
new mom, you will often hear people talking about development and milestones, sleep,
breast feeding, parenting and general aches and pains of your developing and changing
body.
However, we are not often free to talk about our bodies. As expectant moms, our
bodies are literally a vessel for new life. As new moms, our bodies are often handed
over to that of our children, to be nursed, tugged, squeezed, pinched and snuggled.
Whether you felt comfortable embracing your changing body or continue to struggle with
your new body image, this class is for you. Join Julie Gladnick, Licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist, in learning how to love the body your child or children have given you.
In this interactive workshop, Julie, who focuses her work on women struggling with
pre and postnatal anxieties and body image issues, will help create a space in which
you can feel comfortable and free of guilt in expressing the anxieties and love-hate
relationship with your body that can accompany motherhood.
We will discuss ways to give your body grace, both during and after pregnancy,
surrounding yourself with support, letting go of expectations and comparisons, and
feeling sexy and beautiful in your own, new skin.
Babies, Bellies and Bliss is a forum to express yourself about your changing body
and take back confidence in your life to feel like the beautiful mother and woman that
you are.
Julie Gladnick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver. Originally from the East coast, Julie attended graduate school at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley and earned her license in California before relocating to Denver last summer.
Julie focuses her practice on working with women struggling with self-esteem, relationship issues, body image, eating disorders and pre- and postnatal challenges. Her background includes: working with clients in intensive outpatient and residential dual diagnosis treatment programs; children and their families of trauma in community and school-based programs; and men, women and couples struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression and relationship challenges in private practice.
Julie lives in Denver with her husband and daughter, and enjoys jogging, hiking, skiing and the beautiful great outdoors of Colorado.

Supportive Therapy Group for mothers with infants and toddlers.
This group is designed for mothers with children ages 0 to 5
Would you like to learn to communicate and develop acceptance and understanding of your newborn baby?
And more about:
The first relationships. How to be a good mother.
How to start building trust between you and your baby.
Early emotional development of a healthy infant.
What the mental activity of the infant begins with.
The infant’s ability to form connections with the outside world.
Understanding and helping to develop the emotional world of the child is as important as understanding and helping him or her develop physical skills and the ability to learn. A child’s personality is plastic and extremely sensitive. Even if, as an adult, he forgets about his experiences in the first year of life, they will still reflect in his personality. You can be certain that he or she will be affected by restrictions of freedom of expression experienced in infant life, such as lack of love or tenderness. Parents can educate mechanically, according to strict rules and laws, or, alternatively, they can open before the child a friendly, loving and happy world.
Pre-registration required.
This group limited to 6 participants.

Cost of one group session: 75.00

For Women: Finding a Balance – Using Mindfulness to Manage Stress in Your Life
Our lives have become an endless quest to do it all – to meet professional obligations and demands as well as cultivate a satisfying and rich personal/family life. If you are a woman who despite your best intentions finds that at the end of the day, there was no time for you, or the satisfaction you were hoping to experience is missing, then join us for a women’s group that teaches mindfulness to manage stress. The practice of mindfulness is to pay attention in a particular way – on purpose, in the present moment and without judgment. Research demonstrates that this way of paying attention reduces stress and enhances personal well-being. You will learn about the origins and nature of stress, participate in experiential activities that raise awareness of personal stress, learn how to respond rather than react to stress, and by learning and practicing mindfulness skills, experience how stress reduction results in enhanced wellness.

Cost: $240.00

“MASTER YOUR MONEY” LIVE WEBINAR FOR WOMEN:
Balanced Money for Life
4 Wednesdays, August 22, 29, Sept. 5, 12, 2012 *** ALL CLASSES WILL BE RECORDED***
Do you struggle with ‘money issues’??
Does your financial situation feel out of control?
Do you agonize over never having enough?
Are you afraid you’ll never feel secure about your money?
Do you fall short of your goals every month, every year?
THEN YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS CLASS!
Really! 🙂
“Balanced Money for Life” is a 4-class module that helps you look at the BIG PICTURE.
Over the four weeks we zoom out and look at three pots your money goes in: your essentials, your savings, and your fun stuff. How your money is distributed among these pots determines your money balance.
****** IF YOUR MONEY IS OUT OF BALANCE YOU WILL CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE,
NO MATTER WHAT ELSE YOU DO!! ******
On the other hand, when your money is in balance, everything else will fall into place.
In this module I will be teaching you how to get YOUR OWN MONEY in balance. You will learn:
■ how everyone’s money got out of balance
■ why the balanced money formula is so important
■ what the balanced money formula is
■ how to apply the formula to your own money
■ what to do when your money is out of balance
■ ways to keep your money in balance
At the end of these 4 classes, you will begin to:
■ feel less stress about money
■ feel more confident that you can manage your money
■ spend less time worrying about money
■ make plans to save for that trip, vacation, or other special something you’ve been wanting
Imagine how good it will feel to sleep at night knowing you are taking the necessary steps to improve your money situation!
I have spent many years studying this topic, and I know I can save you time and energy – by helping you avoid the mistakes I and many others have made!
I believe your emotional and physical health improves the minute you make a commitment to change bad habits.
And I know from experience that this class will pay for itself many times over, not only in monetary terms, but in decreased anxiety and stress, and increased hope and well-being knowing you can really acheive the life you want!
Please call or e-mail if you have any questions. And remember, calling or e-mailing doesn’t obligate you in any way. I love talking about this class – it’s one of my favorites!
I look forward to helping you take this step toward improving your money situation.

“Master Your Money” Live Web Class: “Balanced Money for Life”
Do you struggle with ‘money issues’??
Do you wonder why you can’t seem to keep track of your money?
Does your financial situation feel out of control?
Do you agonize over never having enough?
Are you afraid you’ll never feel secure about your money?
Do you fall short of your goals every month, every year?
THEN YOU CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS CLASS!
Really! 🙂
“Balanced Money for Life” is a 4-class module that helps you look at the BIG PICTURE.
Over the four weeks we will zoom out and look at three pots your money goes in: your essentials, your savings, and your fun stuff. How your money is distributed among these pots determines your money balance.
If your money is out of balance, you will continue to struggle, no matter what else you do!!
On the other hand, when your money is in balance, everything else will fall into place.
In this module I will be teaching you how to get YOUR OWN MONEY in balance. You will learn:
how everyone’s money got out of balance
why the balanced money formula is so important
what the balanced money formula is
how to apply the formula to your own money
what to do when your money is out of balance
ways to keep your money in balance
At the end of these 4 classes, you will begin to:
feel less stress about money
feel more confident that you can manage your money
spend less time worrying about money
make plans to save for that trip, vacation, or other special something you’ve been wanting!
Imagine how good it will feel to sleep better knowing you are taking steps to improve your money situation.
I have spent many years studying this topic, and I know I can save you time and energy – by helping you avoid the mistakes I and many others have made!
I believe your emotional and physical health improves the minute you make a commitment to change bad habits that prevent you from reaching your goals.
I also know from experience that this class will pay for itself many times over, not only in monetary terms, but in decreased anxiety and stress
And I’m offering a special opportunity to the first 5 people who register for this module (1 spot is already taken, so that leaves 4 now). If you are among the next 4, I will include a private consultation with me as part of your registration. That is worth $120 right there!
I love doing private consultations, but I can provide the bonus to only 5 students. So if you’re interested in the bonus, register now!
All you need to do is copy the link below into your browser, and it will take you to a page where you can register. You will fill out a short form, and then all you need to do is pay via PayPal or credit card to receive your confirmation and your bonus consultation

Greetings!
I am testing the waters to see if there would be interest in an experiential workshop on Gestalt Theory and Practice. My colleague Mary Ann Kraus (a 20+ year Faculty member of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland) and I offer a weekend intensive in Ohio and would love to share it out here in the Denver area. It has been a powerful learning experience for both therapists and nontherapists and a great chance to deepen one’s practical skills related to Gestalt Practice! If the description below piques your interest, please contact me here or at MeerdinkMJ@aol.com. for more information!
“In this increasingly complex world, interpersonal effectiveness can make the difference between surviving and thriving amidst rapid change and uncertainty, in both personal and professional domains. The capacity to be self aware, to take multiple perspectives, and to create meaningful impact in a group or team are increasingly valuable and essential skills.
With this in mind, we are very excited to invite you to join us for an experiential personal and professional development weekend. This workshop will emphasize learning through direct, present experience and contact with others. We will explore both individual capacities and the dynamic capacities of groups in a context that supports the development of all. Throughout the weekend, we will highlight and weave in core elements of the Gestalt model in order to support a maximally integrated learning experience.
If you are interested in deepening your self awareness, expanding your capacity to relate meaningfully with others, or learning about/deepening your knowledge of Gestalt theory and its applications to your personal and professional life, we invite you to participate in this transformational weekend workshop.”
